How VialCheck verifies vendors
Everything on VialCheck comes from records we can show you: vendor product listings and the lab reports (Certificates of Analysis, or COAs) behind them. This page explains how those records are collected, checked and turned into Trust Scores and price comparisons.
1. Where the data comes from
We record each vendor's published products, sizes and prices from their own store, along with any COA files they publish. Vendors listed on VialCheck can also submit products, prices and COAs through their vendor dashboard.
Every new product, change and lab report is reviewed by a VialCheck specialist before it goes live. Vendor submissions are never published automatically.
2. How lab reports (COAs) are checked
For each COA we record, where the document shows it:
- the compound tested and the batch or lot number;
- the testing laboratory, and the report date;
- purity (usually by HPLC) and the measured quantity per vial;
- whether identity was confirmed independently (for example by mass spectrometry).
We use software, including AI-assisted document reading, to extract these fields from each report, and a person reviews the result. The original file is always linked, so you can read the report yourself. Where two labs tested the same batch, both reports are kept on record.
3. The Trust Score
A vendor's Trust Score (0–100) is the average of two things we can measure from records on file:
- Purity — the average lab-reported purity across the vendor's published batches.
- Transparency (COA coverage) — the share of the vendor's published products that have at least one COA on file.
For example, average purity of 98% and COA coverage of 90% gives a Trust Score of 94. A vendor with no approved lab reports yet is shown as not yet scored — we never estimate a number.
What the colours mean
- 90–100 — strong record
- 75–89 — mixed; read the individual COAs
- Below 75 — weak record
What the score is not
It is not a guarantee of any individual vial, and it doesn't yet measure shipping, customer service or pricing. Those factors will only be added once there is verified data to support them. Always check the batch record for the vial you actually buy.
4. How prices are compared
- Prices are the vendor's own listed price for a single vial. Multi-packs and bundle deals are left out so every price is comparable.
- Sizes are standardised — “10 mg”, “10-mg” and “10MG” are all treated as 10mg — and the same compound sold under different names is grouped together where we can confirm it.
- Prices change often. The vendor's checkout price is always the one that applies.
5. Rankings and independence
Vendor directory rankings are ordered by Trust Score and the underlying data only. Vendors cannot pay for placement, and referral relationships (see our Disclaimer) have no effect on scores or order.
6. Corrections
If you believe a record is wrong — a misread COA, an outdated price, a product listed under the wrong compound — please contact us. We review every report and correct the record where the evidence supports it.
